James P. Lampertius, Esq., Managing Attorney

James has been practicing in the areas of special needs planning, estate planning, estate tax, probate administration, elder law and business planning for over fifteen years, and participates regularly in speaking engagements and programs related to those areas, including the Speakers Bureau of the Alzheimer's Association, Angels' Place and the Institute of Continuing Legal Education (ICLE) of the State Bar of Michigan.

James is a frequent lecturer and writer for the State Bar of Michigan and has presented on "Financial and Estate Planning for People with Disabilities, Elder and their Families," "Durable Powers of Attorney for Elders & Persons with Disability" and "Handling the House for Older Persons and Persons with Disability". He has served as presenter and commentator for the Probate and Estate Planning Certificate Program for the 2009 Michigan State Bar Annual Estate Planning Conference.

Through ICLE he has also presented on "Financial and Estate Planning for People with Disabilities, Elders and their Families" and served as Commentator for "Fundamentals of Estate Planning", "Administration of Trusts", "Fundamentals of Estate Planning", "Administration of Trusts" and "Planning Techniques of the Taxable Estate."

James has received a Certificate of Completion in the areas of probate and estate planning issued by the Institute of Continuing Legal Education and the Probate and Estate Planning Section of the State Bar of Michigan. He is a member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Academy of Special Needs Planners. He has also served as Chairperson of the 41st Annual Conference on Issues in Aging, co-sponsored by Wayne State University, Madonna University and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan.

A member of the Probate and Estate Planning, Business Planning and Senior Justice sections of the State Bar of Michigan, the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys and the Oakland County Bar Association, James earned his undergraduate degree in Philosophy and Spanish from the University of Detroit- Mercy (Valedictorian, 1989), his Juris Doctorate at the University of Michigan Law School (1992), and a graduate certificate from the Wayne State University Institute of Gerontology.

Active in charitable and other community organizations, James is on the Advisory Board of Liberty Riders, a charitable organization dedicated to providing therapeutic horse back riding programs and Second Chance at Life, Inc., an organization assisting hospitals and indigent persons needing organ donation. He assists the Planned Giving Committee of Angels' Place, a group of homes for adults with developmental disabilities. He assists numerous public charities in their foundation and administration, including the ACO Hardware Scholarship Foundation.

James and his wife have adopted their daughters, Jeanne Marie and Ana Terese, and their sons, Carlos and Perry from Guatemala. They have enjoyed traveling to Guatemala and sharing our cultures.


Christina L. Borowicz, Esq., Of Counsel Attorney

Christina's practice is focused in the areas of estate planning, elder law, probate, trust administration and long-term care planning. Christina began working in the field of geriatrics and case management in 1995 at Specialized Care Services. She attended Taylor University for her undergraduate education and received her bachelor's degree in Psychology in 2002. Christina received her juris doctorate from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in January of 2006. During her time at Cooley, Christina worked at the Sixty Plus Elder Law Clinic where she gained further experience in elder law, estate planning and probate work.

Christina is a member of the Greater Michigan Alzheimer's Association Public Policy Committee, National Association of Elder Law Attorneys and Oakland County Bar Association. She is working on obtaining her Probate and Estate Planning Certification from the Institute of Continuing Legal Education.


Margaret Roty, Esq., Associate

Margie received her Bachelors of Nursing degree of the University of Michigan. After working as an oncological nurse, she went back to the University of Michigan Law School and obtained her Juris Doctorate. She has been a member of the State of Michigan since 1991. She worked within the Detroit Medical Center for a number of years, focusing upon medical and hospital risk management. She brings her medical care background to this estate planning firm, assisting with trust, estate, special needs and care planning issues.


Janine E. Johnson, Paralegal/Geriatric Care Coordinator

Prior to joining our firm, Janine has worked and volunteered with persons with disabilities and with the elderly in assisted living/nursing homes for Alzheimer's. She has a Bachelor's of General Studies from U of M (Dearborn) with concentrations in Psychology, Communications and Business and has a graduate certificate in Gerontology from Eastern Michigan University.

Janine interacts with our clients to assist with a wide variety of issues, specializing in working with families to complete the Medicaid application process.


Rochelle R. Nelson, Administrative Assistant
Rochelle has 27 years of experience providing small businesses with bookkeeping services.   As our administrative assistant, she is responsible for our firm's financial wellbeing.
